Mystery Book 01

I’m really interested in Edo period Japan, especially the lives of samurais! We glorify battles, but there must have been more to life than fighting. Not every samurai became a legend. I bet there were boring samurais who had to work to make a buck, just like the rest of us.

Anyway, we should get together sometime.

Manga

Mystery Book 02

How can I tell a stranger about myself? I hardly know who I am. Sexuality, gender, class… are these really what define me?

If you’re a fan of Charles Dickens, well then, we have that in common. Victorian age London is the most vibrant place I’ve ever seen, and I’d love to share it with you.

Novel, fiction, romance

Mystery Book 03

I’m a little busy for this whole dating thing- has no one else noticed that our world is falling apart? Murder, corporate espionage, vigilantism- these weren’t always my thing. But what can a girl do?

Someone told me I had a “Zorro meets Batman” thing going on. I’m not trying to be a hero, but someone needs to fix this mess.

Graphic novel

Mystery Book 04

I’m new to this blind-date thing. Heck, I’m new to this continent! I’ve moved far away from home (in the Caribbean, if you wanted to know) to try and gain some independence.

I don’t know if I believe in love, but I want to find out.

Novella, fiction

Mystery Book 05

I’m a big fan of history, literature, fat ponies, and Canada. I’m always up for a good laugh, or a cookie.

If you love any or all of these things, I think we’ll get along really well.

Comic anthology

Mystery Book 06

Pleased to meet you. Maybe we share some favorite authors- I’m a fan of the Brothers Grimm, Edgar Allan Poe, Edward Gorey, and Stephen King. I guess you could say I like unsettling stories the best.

When I’m not reading, I love painting and going on walks in nature. There’s something about the woods that’s really appealing, you know?

Short stories, illustrated

Mystery Book 07

Mystery Book 07

Do you remember high school? It’s supposed to be the best or worst years of your life, right? But really, what’s the big deal? It’s just a phase, and it’s full of people, and some of it is cool, and some of it sucks, and sometimes the person you have a crush on doesn’t notice, but that isn’t the end of the world. You’ve just got to learn to appreciate the humor of it all.

Comic anthology

Mystery Book 08

I’ve seen a lot of political unrest in my day. When it comes to resistance, you can’t always speak directly; if you’ve got something to say you’ve got to hide it in fables, be satiric.

If you let me, I can tell you a fable about an African nation, about dictatorship, and about the entangled mess of life and death. I can tell you my story.

Novel, fiction

Mystery Book 09

My three favorite movies are Coraline, Spirited Away, and Alice in Wonderland, and I take a lot of inspiration from them.
I’m not very popular but I’ve got my family, and that’s what matters. I don’t know what I’d do without them.
Maybe you’d like to hang out sometime? I promise to do my best at making our time together fun.

Novel, young adult fiction

Mystery Book 10

There’s something really special about stories, isn’t there? They bring people together, and link us across cultures.
That’s why I became a storyteller. It’s an honour, and it’s helped me on more than one occasion.
Maybe you and I can exchange stories.

Graphic novel

Mystery Book 11

Let me tell you a bit about myself: I’m interested in Canadian politics and independent publishing, and I’m always up for some good satire. My friends say I’m hilarious, and I tend to agree. If you’ve got a thing for underdogs, I think we’ll really get along!
