Please note that the information listed below pertains to the current 2011-2012 Fall/Winter Session.  Check back in April for details regarding the upcoming 2012-2013 Fall/Winter Session.

You will need the Faculty of Arts and Science Calendar and Registration Handbook and Timetable to help you choose your courses. These publications are essential in order to course-select, check on regulations and create your course timetable. They contain important information that you will need in order to enroll in courses and complete your registration. The Calendar and Registration Handbook and Timetable are available from the New College Registrar’s Office. If you live in the Greater Toronto Area you are asked to come in to the office to obtain these publications.  For those who are unable to visit us, consult the 2011-2012 Calendar (course catalogue) and Registration Handbook & Timetable on the Faculty of Arts and Science website: http://www.artsci.utoronto.ca/current/undergraduate/course. Please pay particular attention to the section titled Guide to Programs & Course Descriptions in the Calendar and Steps 3 through 5 of the Registration Handbook & Timetable.

Be sure to check the Faculty of Arts and Science’s website for any subsequent changes to the Calendar and Registration Handbook & Timetable. These corrections and changes are posted regularly throughout the summer. Current timetable information is essential for successful course selection.

Please refer to the course selection instructions in the Registration Handbook & Timetable (Steps 3 through 5) before selecting and enrolling in your courses. Since some courses and sections may become full early, we encourage you to prepare in advance and to enroll promptly. Once you decide which courses to take by referring to the Calendar, you can use the timetable information in the Registration Handbook & Timetable to construct your schedule. Course enrolment is done via the Student Web Service (SWS): www.rosi.utoronto.ca. Enrolment will begin on July 25th for first year students. Faculty of Arts and Science students have pre-assigned start times to use the SWS on their enrollment start date. Beginning July 15th, these start times will be posted on the SWS; you should check and make a note of yours. If you were admitted as an upper-year student (e.g. with 4.0 or more transfer credits), please check the Registration Handbook & Timetable (Step 4) for enrollment start date information.

In addition to the Calendar and Registration Handbook and Timetable the New College Registrar’s Office has published a New Students’ Guide, designed to assist newly admitted students with course selection. We also have available (see below) information on course selection and preparing for the upcoming academic year. Please read this information carefully. There is a schedule of the Academic Orientation Sessions we will be holding in June and July. If you will not be in Toronto during this period we shall do our best to advise you by telephone or e-mail. Another resource is our  Course Selection Tutorial .
