NEW COLLEGE STUDENT COUNCIL GRANTS (For All Faculties)

Five awards from $250 – $500 each are available to New College students from all faculties. Professional faculty members should also apply for bursary assistance through their faculty. Grant awards will be made on the basis of financial need.

The application period for the New College Student Council Grant is now closed for the 2016-2017 Fall/Winter Session.

 

CARIBBEAN STUDIES BURSARY

Students with demonstrated financial need and who are enrolled in Caribbean Studies courses studying topics including, but not limited to, Caribbean literature, music, social sciences, history or thought may apply for this bursary. Note that preference is given to students enrolled in the Caribbean Studies Specialist or Major Programs.

The application period for the Caribbean Studies Bursary is now closed for the 2016-2017 Fall/Winter Session.

 

DOREEN KNIGHT AWARD

Undergraduate Faculty of Arts and Sciences students who are in good academic standing and who have demonstrated financial need may apply for this award.  Note that preference is given to students of Jamaican descent enrolled in the Caribbean Studies Specialist, Major or Minor Programs.

Award not offered in the 2016-2017 Fall/Winter Session.

 

FREDERICK IVOR CASE MEMORIAL AWARD

Students with demonstrated financial need based on OTSS criteria (see page 4 of application form) may apply. Preference given to students enrolled in the African or Caribbean Studies Programs, and/or who demonstrate a special interest in African- and/or Caribbean-French languages and literature. Further consideration will be given to students from under-represented or equity-seeking communities, including students emerging from institutional access initiatives like the Transitional Year Program.

The application period for the Frederick Ivor Case Memorial Award is now closed for the 2016-2017 Fall/Winter Session.

 

TERRY  BUCKLAND MEMORIAL AWARD

Awarded to New College, Faculty of Arts and Science students who are enrolled in the South Asian Studies (program or courses), and/or who are active in student politics, advocacy, and other equity-oriented co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.  Students must be in good academic standing and demonstrate financial need through the OTSS criteria (see application form).   Note that students are not required to be enrolled in a South Asian Studies program or course to apply.

The application period for the Terry Buckland Memorial Award is now closed for the 2016-2017 Fall/Winter Session.

 

SYLVIA BECK MEMORIAL AWARD

This award supports New College students enrolled in formal exchanges, internships or service-learning initiatives in continental Africa.  Students must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated financial need as determined by OTSS guidelines (including Ontario residency).
