We’re almost there: The final phase of the New College Plaza Project, involving a crane lift, has begun. As a result, a section of Willcocks Street will be closed for a portion of the coming two weeks. The crane will be located at the east end of Willcocks Street, which means the eastern half of the street will be closed. Cars will be able to turn onto Willcocks from Spadina, but they will not be able to proceed toward Huron Street. The space will be under the control of Canada Construction Limited, our contractor, for the duration of the work, limiting access to Willcocks Street. The contractor will also perform traffic control in the loading dock area.
Here are the specifics:
Willcocks Street will be closed on May 2 and May 3, and then again from May 7 through May 10. The closure will be in effect from 6:00 AM to about 4:00 PM each day.
The good news is that we expect the beautiful plaza to be completed before spring convocation, scheduled for June 20, 2018. Check out a time-lapse video of the construction thus far.
