INTERESTED IN MENTORSHIP & CONNECTING TO YOUR COMMUNITY?

The New College Office of Residence & Student Life (ORSL) runs a Peer Mentorship Program aimed at creating meaningful relationships within the New College community.

The NEW Connections Peer Mentorship Program is built upon the four pillars of university resilience: (1) academic success, (2) cultural transition, (3) health and wellness and (4) career preparation. The goal of the program is to support first-year students with their academic, cultural and social transition to New College at the University of Toronto.

NEW Connections Peer Mentors are a selective group of upper year students who excel not only in their academics but also in their leadership, extra-curricular and community involvement. Peer Mentors will connect their Mentees with resources that can help them succeed in their academic career, and serve as initial points of contact for academic and extracurricular questions, or student experience concerns.  This is also a great way for first year students to receive one on one support, become familiarized with university life and foster important relationships throughout the New College community.

Peer Mentors and Mentees will meet at least once every month for the 2017-2018 academic year. In addition, Peer Mentors and Mentees are required to attend 4 NEW Connections socials throughout the school year.

We are currently recruiting 30 New College Faculty of Arts and Science first year students as PEER MENTEES and 15 PEER MENTORS for this program.
