altnerative reading week4

The Alternative Reading Week (ARW) program offered through Student Life and Leadership (SLL) here at New College, aims to offer exciting, experiential, and meaningful opportunities to students who are looking for something “out of the ordinary” and beyond the usual reading week offerings. The ARW program is not designed to compete with other great social excursions that New College community members have planned, but rather is designed to provide students with unique and purposeful opportunities through which they can develop skills, build experiences, and have a great time during the week off school.

Camp Kawartha: Outdoor Education & Leadership

Camp Kawartha 2015

Situated an hour and a half outside of Toronto, Camp Kawartha’s experienced professionals will guide New College students through a series of outdoor adventure activities such as snow shoeing; cross-country skiing; quinzee building; and ropes courses.  There will also be team-building exercises, indoor games, and the Quest for Fire challenge!  This is an amazing opportunity that lets New College students explore the outdoors in winter like never before, while gaining leadership experience and skills at the same time!

Program fees include transportation to and from the facility, overnight accommodations, meals (2 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 2 dinners), and all activities while on-site.  This program is being significantly subsidized by Student Life and Leadership and as such there are a limited number of spots available.

Cost: $100 for New College students
