About the Black Joy Art Initiative Exhibition
The Black Joy Art Initiative Exhibition celebrates joy and mental wellness practices within the Black community. Curated by PhD student Mercedes Sobers as a counterbalance to her dissertation work on Black mental health outcome and access disparities, this exhibition shifts the focus to strength, resilience, and joy.
Through the lens of a local Black photographer and videographers, this initiative captures the many ways joy and wellness are nurtured through practices like creating art, spending time with loved ones, physical fitness and connecting with nature.
Drop by Hart House, 1st floor hallway between May 1 - May 30, 7 am - 11 pm for The Black Joy Art Initiative.
