Move-In Day

Move-In Day for first-year students will take place on Sunday, August 30th, 2026 after 9:00am.

During Move-In Day, staff and student leaders will be at New College to help residents check in to residence, get their room keys, and get settled in their rooms.

Information about Move-In Day, including check-in steps and location, will be sent to incoming residents by email in August.

Arriving after Move-In Day

First-year students can continue to check into residence after 2:00pm on August 30th. Residents have until Sunday, September 13th, 2026 to arrive at residence.

Residents who arrive after 2:00pm (or later than August 30th) can check in and collect their room key at the Wilson Hall Front Desk (no matter which building they live in). The Front Desk is located on the ground floor of 40 Willcocks Street, immediately inside the front doors.

Residents can check in any time the Front Desk is open. The Front Desk is open 24 hours a day.

Move-In Dates

Upper-year students and returning residents can begin moving into residence any time on or after Friday, September 4th, 2026.

Residents have until Sunday, September 13th, 2026 to arrive at residence.

Check-In Process

Resident can check in and collect their room key at the Wilson Hall Front Desk (no matter which building they live in). The Front Desk is located on the ground floor of 40 Willcocks Street, immediately inside the front doors.

Residents can check in any time the Front Desk is open. The Front Desk is open 24 hours a day.

Information about move in, including check-in steps, will be sent to incoming residents by email in August.

The deadline for New College residents to check into residence is Sunday, September 13th, 2026.

If you are concerned that you will not be able to check into residence by September 13th, contact the Office of Residence and Student Life at new.residence@utoronto.ca as early as possible.

Due to the quick turnaround between the summer residence term and Move-In Day, New College is not able to accommodate any move ins before 9:00am on August 30th.

New College residence rooms are fully furnished, meaning that you only need to bring the items that will make your room feel like home.

Please note, New College furnishings cannot be replaced by students’ furniture, stored, or removed from the residence room.

Packing Materials

We recommend that residents use medium-sized boxes and duffle bags to pack, as they are easier to carry and stack on carts.

Move-In Day

Residents are asked to label their moving boxes and luggage with:

• their name;
• their room number;
• a cellphone number.

This helps our staff make sure that belongings are moved to the correct rooms and will be important if belongings are left unattended.

These companies are recognized residence vendors.

Campus Fridge

Campus Fridge Rentals is the exclusive supplier to New College Residence. Staff will be on hand during the move-in period in September and will deliver the fridge to your room and arrange to pick it up in April.

Residence Linens

Residence Linens provides incoming residents with optional bedding packages to make their move-in process as easy and worry-free as possible. Your order will be delivered directly to residence before your arrival.

For full details about prohibited items, review the New College Occupancy Agreement and Residence Policies. You can find some common prohibited items listed below.

1) E-bikes and e-scooters

E-bikes and e-scooters are not permitted anywhere in New College’s buildings, including in residence rooms and the bike storage room, due to the risk of fire. This includes bikes with a removable battery.

We recommend that New College residents do not bring e-bikes or e-scooters with them during their time in residence, due to how challenging it is to find safe, convenient storage options downtown.

2) Electrical appliances

Residents should not use appliances such as the following in residence:

• Cooking equipment (hot plates, indoor grills, toaster ovens, air fryers, microwaves, instant pots, electric frying pans, etc.);
• Space heaters or air conditioners;
• Refrigerators over 5 cubic feet (5 cubic feet and under is permitted);
• Any device that might overload the room’s electrical circuits (anything exceeding 12 amps);
• Any device that is not Ontario Electrical Safety Code-approved.

Some appliances may be used in the common rooms (but not in individual rooms). These include:

• Kettles, coffee makers, blenders, rice cookers, popcorn makers, and toasters.

Subwoofers and powerful speakers are not permitted in residence.

5) Pets

This includes pets of any kind (cats, dogs, reptiles, fish, insects, etc.).

Residents who wish to bring a support animal to residence are encouraged to register with Accessibility Services and are required to meet with ORSL in order to develop an accommodation plan that meets their needs.

6) Fire hazards

These include:

• Candles or incense;
• Halogen or combustible fuel lamps;
• Explosive or pyrotechnic substances.

7) Mattresses

Residents are not permitted to bring their own mattress or cot. In general, New College furnishings cannot be replaced by students’ furniture, stored, or removed from the residence rooms.

8) Smoking

Smoking and smoking-related activities (including, but not limited to, cigarettes, cannabis, vaping, e-cigarettes, hookahs or other smoking devices) are not permitted anywhere inside the residences.

9) Weapons

This includes possessing, storing, or using any firearms, ammunition, air guns/rifles, fireworks, offensive weapons, slingshots, and explosives.

Wilson Hall is located at 40 Willcocks Street, Toronto, M5S 1C6. 45 Willcocks is located directly across the street at 45 Willcocks Street.

At this time, traffic is limited on Harbord Street due to ongoing construction.

To assist with keeping traffic flowing in one direction, we ask that drivers:

• proceed north on Spadina Avenue;
• turn right (east) on Willcocks Street;
• (See the map below for reference.)

Once you are on Willcocks Street, pull up to the curb, unload your belongings, and then immediately park at a nearby paid parking lot (such as Grad House – 17 Glen Morris Street, Toronto, ON).

Do not leave your vehicle unattended. NO PARKING is permitted on Willcocks Street.

Wetmore Hall is located at 21 Classic Avenue, Toronto, M5S 2Z3.

To assist with keeping traffic flowing in one direction, we ask that drivers:

• proceed north on Spadina Avenue;
• and turn right on Classic Avenue (between New College and the Athletic Centre).

Once you are on Classic Avenue, you must pull up to the curb, unload belongings, and then immediately park at the nearest paid parking lot (such as Grad House – 17 Glen Morris Street, Toronto, ON).

Do not leave your vehicle unattended. NO PARKING on Classic Avenue is permitted.

Pearson Airport Welcome Booths

The University of Toronto does not offer airport pick-up service. However, the university does have Airport Welcome Booths at Pearson International Airport. For more information about the Welcome Booths, visit the Centre for International Experience’s website.

Travel Routes from Pearson Airport

There are a variety of methods for travelling from Pearson International Airport to New College (40 Willcocks Street):

• The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) runs buses, subway trains, and streetcars that can be used to travel from Pearson Airport to New College. You can plan your TTC trip using their Trip Planner.
• Students also use the UP Express, which is an affordable express train that runs from Pearson Airport to Union Station every 15 minutes. If students take the UP Express to Bloor Station, they can then switch to the Bloor-Danforth subway line 2 and travel east to Spadina Station, which is just north of New College.
• Many students use the rideshare service Uber or taxis. You can find information about locating taxis at Pearson Airport by visiting their website.
