End of Term
New College’s 2026-27 Winter residence term ends at 12:00pm (noon) on Friday, April 30th.
Check-Out Deadlines
Residents are required to leave residence by whichever date is earlier:
- within 48 hours of their final 2027 Winter assessment date (exam or assignment)*;
- by 12:00pm (noon) on April 30th.
These check-out dates are set in order to maintain a positive environment for students who are still completing assessments and to prepare for the Summer residence term.
*Residents whose departure deadline is between April 9th and April 29th have until 11:59pm (midnight) on their check-out date to leave residence. Residents who are leaving on April 30th must check out by 12pm (noon).

Extensions and Summer Residence
New College residents can apply to extend their residence stay past their check-out deadline. Residents who are looking to live in residence after the end of term can also make a summer residence booking at New College.
Exam Period Extensions
New College residents can request to extend their stay to a later date during the exam period. Exam period extensions cannot extend past 12:00pm (noon) on April 30th, 2027.
Exam period extensions require that the resident demonstrate a need to stay past their original check-out deadline, such as a booked flight.
Extension Requests
Applications for exam period extensions will be made available to residents in March.
Permission to stay is not granted automatically and is subject to the Dean’s approval. After submission, requests will be reviewed by the Office of Residence and Student Life and confirmations will be sent out in early April.
Cost
There is no charge for exam period extensions.
Summer Residence
Residents who are interested in living in residence at New College after 12:00pm (noon) on April 30th, 2027 will have an opportunity to make a summer residence booking. Bookings will open up in March.
Summer Bookings
The summer residence term lasts from April until August. Summer bookings can be short-term (days or weeks) or long-term (months).
Details about summer bookings, including prices, will be sent to residents in mid-February. Summer residence bookings are managed by New College’s summer staff.
