New College Withdrawal Policies
Occupancy Agreement
For the most comprehensive information about withdrawing from residence, review section 10 of the New College Residence Occupancy Agreement.
Withdrawal Process
Once you have reviewed the withdrawal policies in the Occupancy Agreement, contact the Office of Residence and Student Life (ORSL) at new.residence@utoronto.ca to inform them of your intention to withdraw.
You will be asked to submit a Withdrawal Notice Form, which will be provided to you by ORSL. If you choose to withdraw from residence during the academic year, you are asked to provide a minimum of 2 weeks written notice to the Office of Residence and Student Life. Failure to do so may result in an administrative fee.
Withdrawal Policies
Students are admitted to residence on the understanding that they will remain in residence for the full Occupancy Period.
Students who withdraw from residence on or after Move-In Day (August 25, 2024) will have their Occupancy Fee reassessed as follows:
- Refunds of the Room portion of the Occupancy Fee are as indicated in Occupancy Fee Rates and Payment Schedule (Schedule “B”);
- Refunds of the Meal Plan portion of the Occupancy Fee are as indicated in the Residence Meal Plan Agreement (Schedule “D”);
Schedule “B” and Schedule “D” can be found in the New College Residence Policies document.
No withdrawals are permitted during the Winter Break (December 22, 2024 to January 4, 2025).
Changes to Academic Status
Students who withdraw from the University are required to vacate the residence premises within 48 hours of the date upon which they cease to hold full-time academic status unless alternate arrangements are approved by the Director of Residence and Student Life.
Please contact the Office of Residence and Student Life at new.residence@utoronto.ca to inform them of any changes to your full-time academic status.
