Residence Life Survey

Taking the Survey

Please check your U of T email during the first week of November to find your personalized survey link and pin code. If you are unable to find the email, please contact new.reslife@utoronto.ca.

The survey completion time is estimated to be 5 to 10 minutes long.

The survey closes on Sunday, November 30th, 2025 at 11:59 PM.

Survey Prizes

Residents who have completed the survey will be entered into a draw to win one of the following prizes:

Winners will be contacted by email within one month of the survey closing.

How will my responses be used?

Confidentiality

Personal information collected through the Residence Life survey will be treated in accordance with the University of Toronto’s Privacy Policies, and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).

Only the survey administrator will have access to student email addresses, or contact information for troubleshooting survey issues and response validation.

Participant responses will NOT be linked back to individual students in any analysis or reporting. Data will be disaggregated for analysis (see below).

Personal Information

Certain personal information/demographics about students is not available to the Office of Residence and Student Life. This information is being collected (optionally) through the Residence Life Survey for disaggregated analysis.

When survey data is disaggregated, it means that it has been broken down into specific, detailed sub-categories. Disaggregated data and subsequent analysis are tools used by staff to explore inequalities that might exist in student housing, and is usex to explore opportunities to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Survey participants are always given a “choose not to answer” option for the following categories:

  • Student status (domestic/international)
  • First Generation Student
  • Race and ethnicity
Demonstrated Action

The results of the Residence Life survey provide critical information for assessment that can lead to improvements within different operations to best serve students living in residence at New College.
