Here’s what our students had to say about last year’s retreat.

The drop-in writing support gave me some confidence about my ideas and this allowed me to do work which I had been too stressed to start.

I feel more able to plan my writing process and  I learned some good anti-procrastination techniques.

I was a lot more patient and was not as frustrated during the retreat as I would be writing at home.

The environment set up really worked for me, provided me with different places to work based on my needs.  Also, I really liked peer interaction and breaks.

It reminded me that writing doesn’t have to be an entirely overwhelming process.

Writing is not an isolating / solitary process.  There can be fruitful connections out of it too, even if it’s just solidarity.

Liked the easy changes of atmosphere.

I do much better by sharing my ideas with others.

It’s been one of my most meaningful academic experiences in university.

I feel more confident in my writing and more invested in building a writing community.

90% of students surveyed rated the retreat as “Very Useful” (4 on a 4 point scale) in helping them make headway on their papers.
