Job Description and Duties

The D.G. Ivey Library at New College is accepting Student Library Assistant applications for the 2026 fall academic session (September 8 – December 23, 2026)

Our library is home to collections that support the Women and Gender Studies Institute, and programs in Caribbean Studies, African Studies, Equity Studies, and Buddhism, Psychology and Mental Health. Job duties include assisting patrons in person and on the telephone, circulating books, assisting with general library operations such as processing new books and updating websites, helping patrons to use computers, copiers, scanners and other library facilities and working on a variety of special projects.

Qualifications

• Must be a current student at the University of Toronto. Preference will be given to students enrolled in a New College programs, the Faculty of Information who are entering their first year of study, or the Women and Gender Studies Institute
• A strong service orientation, attention to detail, and punctuality are required
• Strong written and oral communication in English are essential

Compensation: $20.00/hr

24-hour study space night stewards

The library hires students to work overnight during the exam breaks. Keep an eye out for hiring announcements in November and March.
