Message from Principal Bob Gazzale

To the class of 2025 – congratulations!

Convocation marks a significant moment in every academic journey, recognizing not only your achievements, but also your dedication, strength and growth as you met every challenge. You worked tirelessly in courses, brought energy and enthusiasm to student groups, formed lifelong friendships, and helped build a vibrant community at New College. Your impact on the College will be felt long after you have left the University of Toronto.

Today, savour your accomplishments as you celebrate with loved ones, and acknowledge those whose support was invaluable: parents, family, friends, and fellow students. I encourage you to let them know what this support has meant to you.

Embarking on life’s next chapter, embrace that the journey will be challenging, with uncertainties and moments of doubt. You are prepared for this! Take risks, and do not be afraid to make mistakes. Remember that failure is a necessary step towards success, and that the skills and habits you’ve developed are as important as the knowledge you gained. So, continue to seek opportunities to grow, stay curious, ask questions and most importantly, stay true to yourself and your values.

Today marks your transition from student to alum, joining a dynamic community of over 34,460 New College graduates spread across Canada and the globe, whose achievements continue to both impress and inspire. We encourage you to stay connected and never forget that we will always be here to welcome you back home.

On behalf of New College faculty, staff and community, we wish you the absolute best and hope this is a memorable day for you and all who supported you in your academic journey. The future belongs to you, Class of 2025. Congratulations!

Sincerely,

Bob Gazzale
Principal

Congratulations, Class of 2025! Be proud of all you did to get here—graduating with a U of T degree is an amazing accomplishment. Try not to stress about getting a job right away; you will have the rest of your life to work, but only this brief window to enjoy the transition to whatever is next. Your first job may not be your dream job, but you will get there, eventually. All the best!

– Sayeda Moosavi, Medical Office Manager

Congratulations, Graduates! Don’t be fooled by anyone who tells you you’re graduating into difficult times. The opposite is true. There has never been a more exciting time to be the person you are today.

– Anthony Minna

“Congratulations. You have completed the next step forward in your life. I was in the class of 1969. I recommend that Arts grads chose post grad or vocational studies. Followed my BA at the UofT School of Business. Best decision and never looked back. It sure helped get a job and build a successful career!

– John, Graduate

Congratulations 🎊 on your accomplishment. The people you’ve met at New College and UofT can be friends for life. My friends from the college theatre troupe New Faces are still my friends 🧡 today.

– N. Reynolds

Congratulations! You’ve reached an incredible milestone, and we’re so proud to welcome you into the New College alumni family.

You are joining a community of bold thinkers, creative problem-solvers, and people who care deeply about making a difference. Wherever life takes you next, know we’re here cheering you on — and always just a message away.

We hope you’ll stay connected — with each other and with us. The Alumni Office is here to support you, celebrate you, and keep you tied to this amazing place and its people.

– Bel Montenegrino, Associate Director, Advancement

“Vain attempts to imitate others you will no longer make. Instead, place your uniqueness on display in the marketplace.

You are rare, and there is value in all rarity; therefore, you are valuable. You are the end product of thousands of years of evolution.

You are not on this earth by chance. You are here for a purpose, and that purpose is to grow into a mountain, not to shrink to a grain of sand. Henceforth, apply all your efforts to become the highest mountain of all and strain your potential until it cries for mercy.

You have been given eyes to see and a mind to think, and now you know a great secret of life for you perceive, at last, that all problems, discouragements, and heartaches are, in truth, great opportunities in disguise. You will no longer be fooled by the garments they wear, for your eyes are open.

You are Nature’s Greatest Miracle!!

For why should the miracle which produced you end with your birth? Why can you not extend that miracle to your deeds of today?

You are Nature’s Greatest Miracle!!”
(paraphrased passage from Og. Mandino’s I Am Nature’s Greatest Miracle, The Scroll Marked IV.)

– Ched Lee, Marketing Director

Today marks the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance, and growth. You’ve faced challenges, learned lessons, and emerged stronger. As you step into the next chapter of your journey, remember to enjoy the journey. Life isn’t just about reaching destinations; it’s about appreciating the moments along the way. Celebrate your victories, learn from setbacks, and find joy in the process. “Last man standing”, success comes through endurance and perseverance. You have the power to shape your future!

– Mandy Cheung

Huge congratulations to the newest New College alumni from St. George! Seeing you cross the stage four years after my own brings back all the feels—the late nights in the Robarts, the walks across the Sidney Smith Hall. You’ve conquered the unique challenges of UofT, especially during these past few years, and that’s no small feat. Carry the spirit of New College with you as you take on the next adventure. The world needs your brilliance. So proud to call you fellow alumni! With warmest regards, Lowinna, NC ‘Grad 2021
