2024 marks the 40th anniversary of Development Alternatives with Women for a New Era (DAWN), a network of feminist scholars, researchers and activists from the economic Global South. DAWN turned the geographical axis of feminism on its head and insisted on centring questions and perspectives derived from poor women living in the South. DAWN’s earliest vocabularies also anticipated the climate crisis we now face. In short, these women offer a holistic approach that simply refuse to be domesticated in its feminist reach.
