Training
New College is committed to providing training opportunities for faculty, instructors, and staff which will help them to:
- look for early warning signs for students experiencing mental health difficulties;
- recognize when a student may be in distress;
- refer students in distress to either on-campus or off-campus resources.
LivingWorks ASIST
New College hosts the LivingWorks Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) program.
SafeTALK Training
New College offers a selection of SafeTALK (Suicide Alertness for Everyone) training sessions, also open to students at U of T. Contact new.orsl@utoronto.ca for more information.
The session is free for students as long as they attend, or cancel before the training. There is a $25 cost if they register and do not attend, charged to their ACORN account. These sessions include a meal as part of the training.
