Would you like to spend less time working through students’ papers because they actually spent time writing before their assignment was due?

Would you like to see sustained development to your students’ writing?

Would it be reassuring to know that your students can have a designated time to receive writing guidance from an instructor or librarian as they finish their paper to get it to you on time?

The Caribbean Studies, African Studies and Critical Studies in Equity and Solidarity (CAESS) Writing Group can help!

The CAESS Writing Group is a comfy, drop-in writing space for students to work on course readings and assignments and is staffed with New College writing instructors and librarians who provide writing guidance.

And can now be booked for assignment-specific sessions to help students get ahead of their assignments with focused writing support.

We offer:

  • Assignment tailored sessions for your students
  • Writing instructors and librarians available
  • Feedback and support at all stages of writing
  • A cheerful space for students to ask questions, brainstorm, start writing and be collaborative with their peers (rough drafts are not needed)

We can also keep track of the students’ names (with their consent) if you wish to award participation marks for attendance.

The CAESS Writing Group is available:

Online: Zoom
In-person:
Wilson Hall, Rm. 2053(20 Willcocks Street)

  • Tuesdays 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. (in-person)
  • Fridays 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. (online)

If you’d like to book your students for a session, but Tuesday and Friday won’t work, feel free to book your class for a similar offering by the New College Writing Room.

How it works:

Fill out the Contact us form and we’ll get in touch with you to discuss how we can tailor the session for your assignment and students.

The not-so-fine-print:

  • Each booking will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis
  • In-person sessions are limited to 15 – 20 students, but there are options for multiple sessions
  • It is recommended that you or a TA be present during the session, but sessions can be booked without if needed
  • Assignments will need to be shared with us before the booked session to help us better serve your students
