Rental Information

Room bookings at New College fall under the following categories:

Non-Academic Spaces

UofT Recognized Student Groups:  To book non-academic spaces please email new.studentlife@utoronto.ca. Student groups may be asked to submit a Risk Assessment Form along with the relevant Room Rental Form.  

All others:  To book non-academic spaces please email nc.roombookings@utoronto.ca

William Doo Auditorium 


One side of the William Doo is used as U of T student hangout steps (south side Room B) and the other side is primarily used as a teaching collaborative space (north side Room A). Some bookings will use both side for events.

The room capacity of Room A:

  • 105 loose seating. 
  • OR 8 round tables with 6 chairs = 48 (each table fits 4 comfortably but can squeeze 6 chairs) 

The room capacity of Room B 

  • 130 fixed stair seating 

The room capacity of Room A and B: 

  • 120 loose seating plus 130 fixed stair seating  
  • OR 10 round tables with 6 chairs = 60 (each table fits 4 comfortably but can squeeze 6 chairs) plus 130 fixed stair seating

EVENT FEES:

Rental Rates are listed on the table on the Rental Form

  • Custodial fees for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holiday events range from $180-$480
  • Other fees can include for special set ups/requests and AV techs
  • Overtime charges outside of regular hours 8:30 am-4:30 pm may apply from $45/hr-$120/hr
  • The rental rate for bookings using north side Room A is $350/day
  • The rental rate for booking using the full auditorium is $700/day
  • The rental rate for a New College sponsored event is $500/day (Room A & B) or $350 (Room A) (paid internally)
  • The rental fee is waived for New College internal group only Monday – Thursday and Friday before 2pm

To inquire for availability, please email nc.roombookings@utoronto.ca. If available, please submit the Rental Form and deposit to reserve the space. Rental Forms must be sent at least 14 days in advance of event date.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: 

  • AV equipment- The room has a podium that connects your laptop to a projector and screen (both wired and wireless). The following wireless devices are also included – 2 handheld mics, 2 lapel mics, 2 podium mics and 2 assistive listening devices. Please download the William Doo AV Manual for more information on using the AV
  • There is no onsite event or tech support outside of regular working hours Mon-Fri
  • AV tech support may be available with advance notice (at least two weeks) outside of regular working hours Mon-Fri at a rate of $50/hr plus HST (subject to availability). They will help with basic AV set up and connection (as shown in the manual) and deal with basic AV problems. If you require tech support for help beyond the scope of what is provided or additional AV equipment besides what is in the manual, you will need to source your own vendor
  • For catering inquiries please contact  UofT Food Services  or your own caterer
  • The William Doo is not bookable as a classroom space for ongoing regular bookings
  • Room B will be primarily used as ‘Hang Out Steps’ for University of Toronto students
  • The Atrium (on ground level) and Gnu Lounge (area just outside the William Doo on basement level) is a UofT student hangout space and is not bookable for your event

All rooms with the exception of Wetmore Hall Room 135A (Senior Common Room) and Wetmore Hall Room 66 come equipped with a projector, but users must provide their own laptop and cable. 

*Wilson Hall Room 2053 and Wetmore Hall Room 66 are only available to Faculty and Staff members for meeting space. 

**Wetmore Hall Room 135A (Senior Common Room) is generally not bookable but requests are considered on a case by case basis. Please contact nc.progsupport@utoronto.ca for more information.
