The below resources are intended to inform and assist Faculty and Staff at New College in supporting students and their mental health and well-being.
New College is committed to providing training opportunities for faculty, instructors and staff which will help them to:
- look for early warning signs for students experiencing mental health difficulties;
- recognize when a student may be in distress;
- refer students in distress to either on-campus or off-campus resources.
Training For Faculty/Instructors/Staff:
New College is hosting the LivingWorks ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) on Thursday, November 7th and Friday, November 8th at the reduced rate of $100 per student, and $120 per staff member or alumni. Outside community members are welcome at $160 per person.

Training For Students:
New College is also offering a selection of SafeTALK (Suicide Alertness for Everyone) training sessions open to students at U of T.
The session is free for students as long as they attend, or cancel before the training. There is a $25 cost if they register and do not attend, charged to their ACORN account. These sessions include a meal as part of the training.
