Scholarships and awards listed below are open to only New College students

New College offers awards to celebrate students who have made significant contributions to the College and/or greater community through co-curricular activities.

Below is a list of current awards available and their eligibility criteria. New College students visit our Quercus page to apply.

Frederick Ivor Case Memorial Award

New College students eligible for OSAP. Consideration will be given to students enrolled in the African or Caribbean Studies Programs and/or demonstrate special interest in African and/or Caribbean-French languages and literatures. Further consideration will be given to students from under-represented or equity-seeking communities, including students emerging from institutional access initiatives like the Transitional Year Program.

Terry Buckland Memorial Award

New College students eligible for OSAP in years 1-3 and have significant co-curricular contribution. Further consideration will be given to students enrolled in the South Asian Studies program or courses and those active in student politics, advocacy and other equity-oriented activities.

Stephanie Leung Memorial Scholarship

New College students eligible for OSAP in years 2-4 and in good academic standing with significant leadership and involvement in intramural and/or Varsity athletics.

New College Merit & Leadership Awards

These awards recognize students who have made significant contributions to the College community through co-curricular activities. Applicants must be New College students and do not need to demonstrate financial need.

The New College 50th Anniversary Award

New College students in years 3 or 4 with significant co-curricular contribution to the New College community.

The Audrey Taylor Award

New College students in years 1-3 and in good academic standing with significant co-curricular contribution to the New College community.

New College Student Council Centennial Award

New College students in years 2-4 with significant co-curricular contribution to the New College community and strong academic performance.

The F.E.W. Wetmore Honour Award

New College students who are eligible to graduate in June 2024 with strong academic performance and co-curricular contributions to the New College community.

The Ann Yeoman (“Dean Ann”) Residence Award at New College

New College students who have lived in New College residence for at least one full fall-winter session with significant contribution to the residence community.

New College Merit & Leadership Needs-Based Awards

These awards recognize students who have made significant contributions to the College community through co-curricular activities. Applicants must be New College students who can demonstrate financial need.

The Katherine Grace Baker Memorial Award

New College students must be OSAP eligible and have demonstrated significant co-curricular contribution to the New College community. Consideration will be given for strong academic performance. Further consideration will be given to applicants in 3rd year or above.

The Rea, Robert and Norm Paterson Award

New College students must be OSAP eligible and have demonstrated significant co-curricular contribution to the New College community.

The New College Student Council Leadership Award

New College students in years 2-4 with significant co-curricular contribution to the New College and/or broader community and strong academic performance. Strong academic performance can be demonstrated via consistently high performance or a significant increase in grades during their studies. Financial need must also be demonstrated via OSAP, student grant/loan from another Canadian government and/or an undergraduate grant application.

The Betty Yeoman (“Dean Mum”) Memorial Award for Residence Life

New College students must be currently living in a New College residence with significant contribution to the residence community. Financial need must be demonstrated via OSAP, student loan from another Canadian government and/or an undergraduate grant application. A letter from the applicant’s Don is a requirement for application.
